Tom Kwan, the host of the Wednesday night church service for freestyle rappers at Horse Bazaar in Melbourne, has decided to pack his knapsack and move on. This will not only end his involvement in the event, but will also bring on major changes to the format of the weekly event.

I'm going to be bold and claim that Tom Kwan has been the perfect host for this event. Hosting a weekly event for two years is a ridiculous commitment and investment of time and energy. But Tom's biggest achievement, I believe, is that he has been getting the balance right. Being an A-grade emcee, he set the bar high, while never over-shining those who rose to the open mic challenge. I have said it once before and I can't think of a better way to put it: Tom Kwan has been the glue holding it all together on that stage every week, stepping in when MC's were lost for words, while letting them shine when they were on a roll.

Thanks to DJ Daily, DJ Decktektive and a bunch of new faces in the crew of organisers, the show will go on at ’Can I Kick It?’. But it will take someone with pretty big feet to fill those Tom Kwan shoes.

This Wednesday you get one more chance to see Tom Kwan hosting ‘Can I Kick It?’. Get the event details here. Come along and let's send the brother off with style.

Safe travels, brother.
