Triple J Unearthed:
My name is D N Z L (Denzel) and I'm a 19 year old student from Melbourne. My heritage is South African, Australian and I was born and raised on my dad playing Tupac, Nelly, Andre 3000 and songs with rhythms in languages I hardly understood, but only moved into song writing 3 years ago when I was exposed to the likes of J Cole and Childish Gambino. Since then I've crammed my phone full of notes containing hundreds of songs trying to elevate myself to a higher level and am now working on performing to crowds all over Melbourne.
Pania is a 20 year old Melbourne artist raised on 90s r&b and rap, her sound is a mix of her favourite sounds like jazz, soul, r&b and hip hop mixed with her unique vocals and love for chilled music. PANIA wants to create a sound that people can vibe to and connect with, as her idols Lauryn Hill and Amy Winehouse did for her. PANIA has been crafting and creating an EP with audio visuals set to be released later this year.
Benny Sinclair has spent the past few years in the studio writing and repositioning himself creatively. Inspired by his love of hip-hop and spirituality, Benny released his debut solo album ‘The Impeccable Word’ September last year. A musical representation of the four agreements he has adopted and lives by; 1) Be impeccable with your word; 2) Don’t take anything personally; 3) Don’t make assumptions; 4) Always do your best. The first hit single of his debut album is an uplifting, melodic blend of hip hop, soul, and reggae with a nod to Benny’s paternal heritage addressing slavery & freedom through music & expression. Since releasing his debut album Benny has performed across Melbourne at venues such as Revolver and The Palace, which has drawn a crowd who have come to love and enjoy his music. Benny plans to release 3 more albums, based on the four agreements. With great anticipation of his second album ‘Don’t Take It Personal’, set to be released later this year.
